She said: &#8220;Major season in golf is sadly coming to an end with the Open this week and your yearly reminder to say &#8216;The Open&#8217; and not &#8216;the British Open&#8217; or else you&#8217;ll make a golf purist&#8217;s mind explode&#8221;
The Open is the oldest major tournament in golf &#8211; which means there is no need to add &#8216;British&#8217; in front of it as a distinction.
But the popularity of the US Open means many in America refer to the tournament as &#8216;the British Open&#8217;.
Many in the comments however ignored Spiranac&#8217;s tips as they instead commented on her revealing outfit.
One fan tweeted: &#8220;I didn’t hear a word of this…..&#8221;
