New Jayson Tatum-featured Jordan Brand ad appears to take shot at Adidas, Anthony Edwards

“Don’t Stop Disbelieving” versus “Believe That.”

A new Jordan Brand ad featuring Boston Celtics’ Jayson Tatum appears to take a shot at Adidas and Minnesota Timberwolves young star Anthony Edwards.

The ad features a worker covering up an orange billboard that looks reminiscent of Edwards’ that advertised the debut of the Adidas AE 1 basketball shoes.

Tatum is speaking over the ad with media trash talking in the background, saying the following:

The ad then shows a billboard with a centered Tatum, between the words “DON’T STOP DISBELIEVING.” That also appears to be another shot at Edwards and Adidas, as the 22-year-old’s brand’s saying has been “Believe That.”

Tatum at 26 years old won his first NBA Finals this week, closing out the Dallas Mavericks in game five.

According to Stathead Basketball, the only categories Edwards has over Tatum so far in their young careers are assists per game (4.1 to 3.5) and steals per game (1.4 to 1.1). Tatum is also 6-1 against Edwards in regular season head-to-head matchups.

Obviously, Tatum has been in the league longer than Edwards and many would argue Boston has had better rosters over the years in comparison to the Timberwolves. However, both players had similar stats during the 2023-2024 season, with Edwards winning his first matchup against the former Duke product.

Edwards’ latest ad released late last month discusses keeping receipts for those who have doubted the young star.

Maybe Tatum and Jordan Brand are added to that list.

Tatum and the Celtics have the best chance to repeat next year (+280) while Edwards and the Timberwolves have the third-best odds to claim their first title in the 2024-2025 season (+850).
