Deadpool & Spider-Man Team Up Following MCU Director Movie Comments In Marvel Poster Art

After Shawn Levy’s recent comments regarding his MCU wishes, Deadpool and Spider-Man have been imagined joining forces in new Marvel fan art. Ryan Reynolds will be making his MCU debut as Deadpool in Phase 5’s Deadpool & Wolverine, bringing him into Marvel Studios’ franchise permanently, and creating the opportunity for him to cross paths with other heroes in the future. Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy wants one of these heroes to be Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, and this could be a superhero team-up for the ages.

After Levy expressed his hopes to bring Deadpool and Spider-Man together to Total Film (via GamesRadar), new fan art has emerged, shared by bosslogic, imagining Reynolds’ Merc with a Mouth and Holland’s Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man side-by-side in a Marvel parody poster.

Bosslogic’s poster parodies 2006’s romantic comedy movie Just Friends, which starred Ryan Reynolds. Deadpool takes Reynolds’ place, while co-star Amy Smart is replaced with Peter Parker’s Spider-Man, marking yet another mockery of Reynolds’ varied and not-always-successful movie career.

Why A Deadpool & Spider-Man Movie Would Be Perfect For The MCU’s Future

It may seem like an unorthodox idea to bring together Reynolds’ Deadpool and Holland’s Spider-Man, but the two red-costumed heroes actually have a rich history together in Marvel Comics. This makes their hopefully-inevitable crossover in the MCU all the more exciting, particularly since Marvel Studios has a wealth of storylines to draw from. Including 2016-19’s Spider-Man/Deadpool team-up run, launched by Joe Kelly and Ed McGuinness, the titular heroes have embarked on many adventures together over the years.

Marvel Studios’ potential Deadpool & Spider-Man project could see the heroes battle Life Model Decoys, travel to Weirdworld, fight Tombstone, the Chameleon, Norman Osborn, and Kraven the Hunter, and perhaps even save the entire universe. Shawn Levy’s dreams of bringing Deadpool and Spider-Man together, as revealed to Total Film, would be the perfect opportunity to fully cement Reynolds’ Deadpool as a permanent part of the MCU. This would also allow Peter Parker to build new relationships in the MCU, after Spider-Man: No Way Home ended with everyone forgetting him.

The thing about Deadpool is I think he makes everything more interesting because of his audacity. But, boy, I’d sure love to see Deadpool and Spidey. That’s a movie I’d love to make. I feel like Tom Holland would run circles around everyone else.

Tom Holland is set to return in a new MCU trilogy as Spider-Man, but it’s still unclear which direction Marvel Studios and Sony will take with these new projects. It would be a shame for Holland to exit the role of the wall-crawler without crossing paths with Deadpool, but they will have plenty of opportunities to come together following the 2025 release of Deadpool & Wolverine. Perhaps future Deadpool team-up movies, Spider-Man 4, or Avengers 5 and Secret Wars could present the best chances to combine Deadpool and Spider-Man, beginning a fantastic and hilarious new partnership in the MCU.
